The El Segundo Recreation, Parks, and Library Department offers high-quality parks and recreation facilities, the El Segundo Library, community service programs, recreation classes, events and activities. The Department is versatile in its service delivery by providing vital public transportation in addition to offering valuable programs and enrichment opportunities for all ages and abilities.

Women's Self-Defense Class

Event: Women’s Self-Defense Class

Location: El Segundo Teen Center- 405 E. Grand Ave.

When: Saturday, March 2nd from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Cost: FREE

The El Segundo Police Department is offering a free self-defense class for women 14 years and older. The class will be taught by police officers who are the self-defense instructors for our agency.

The course will teach basic fighting skills (punching, kicking), escaping common control holds used by aggressors and developing the mindset on not becoming a victim.

To sign up for this free class please e-mail Lieutenant Eric Atkinson at eatkinson@elsegundo.org. Class space is limited so we suggest you sign up early.

Please wear gym type clothes and bring plenty of water. The course requires physical activity and participants should be free from any injuries or ailments that may be aggravated by the class.
