The Los Angeles County Commission for older Adults celebrates May as Older American’s Month and this year’s theme is “Make Your Mark”. This theme was selected to encourage and celebrate countless contributions that older adults make to our communities. Their time, experience, and talents benefit family, peers, and neighbors every day. Communities, organizations, and individuals of all ages are also making their marks. This year’s theme highlights the difference everyone can make in the lives of older adults, in support of caregivers, and to strengthen communities.

The City of El Segundo selects a community member to receive the award of El Segundo Senior Citizen of the Year and hosts a celebration, called Elderfest, in honor of all senior citizens in the community. Elderfest will take place on Saturday, May 9th at the El Segundo Joslyn Center from 11:00AM to 1:00PM.  Reservations are required by May 5th.

We invite you to celebrate Older Americans Month and make your mark in May!
