Accomplishments - FY 2015/2016

The Professional Standards section accomplishments are as follows:

  • Maintained annual compliance with POST and STC training mandates.
  • Completed administrative investigations assigned.
  • Hosted regional training courses for police department personnel and outside agencies.
  • Updated critical policies/critical policy tests to remain current with recent legislative changes.
  • Conducted on-going department-wide training on “Defensive Tactics” to increase uniformed officers’ proficiency in arrest/control techniques, force documentation and follow-up procedures.
  • Replaced Furniture in Records and Traffic office spaces

The Records section accomplishments are as follows:

  • Records retention schedules were met on a City wide yearly basis, in accordance with the provisions of records retention control and laws pertaining to the distribution and dissemination of records
  • Changes in the court filing process began January 1st, 2016; an improvement to a more efficient document redaction and court distribution on felony criminal cases and fatal traffic collisions reports was implemented.

The Personnel section accomplishments are as follows:

  • Hired two full time Police Assistants for Traffic and Administration
  • Coordinated testing and processed nine Police Assistant applicants
  • Processed hundreds of Police Officer Candidates for entry level police officer.  We have hired three officers. 
  • Processed candidates for Lateral Entry Police Officers
  • Tested and processed ten applicants for the Police Cadet position and hired two cadets.
  • Processed five candidates for Information System Specialist (ISS). 
  • Labor Negotiations Detail successfully mitigated several labor protests in the City.

The Administrative Division accomplishments are as follows:

  • Continued to manage fleet maintenance, building maintenance, uniform requests/orders, grants, and all other administrative functions.
