Holiday Tree Lighting in City Hall Plaza Please join in on us on Thursday, December 6, 2018 for the City of El Segundo’s Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration in the City Hall Plaza on the 300 block of Main Street.
The Farmer’s Market will be hosting a Holiday Craft Boutique in City Hall Plaza with a wide variety of hand-made items including ornaments, jewelry, holiday crafts, candles, lotions, and clothing.
Children will have the opportunity to meet Santa Claus beginning at 3:30pm. Starting Monday, November 26th, El Segundo residents with a valid 2018 or 2019 Youth Recreation I.D Card, will have access to “fast pass” wrist bands available at the Checkout Building in Recreation Park. Please note “fast pass” wristbands are limited and you must be in the fast pass line prior to the tree lighting ceremony at 5:30pm.
Wait, there is more! The Candy Cane Kid Zone features a variety of holiday themed games and activities while local community groups and the Dickens Carolers will be delivering live performances on the Showmobile from 3:30-6:30pm.
The Tree Lighting Ceremony will begin at 5:30 pm in the City Hall Plaza. Come join in on the fun and kick off a wonderful winter season! A special thanks to Mattel for sponsoring this year’s event and providing helpful volunteers. For more information, please call the El Segundo Recreation & Parks Department at 1-310-524-2700.
New Aquatics Center becoming a reality!
El Segundo will soon have a new Aquatics Center featuring an Olympic-size competitive swimming pool, a separate warm-water teaching pool, locker rooms and family restrooms, spectator seating with a capacity of over 600 seats, a large full-color LED scoreboard and state-of-the-art timing system. The outdoor complex will be located at the site of the under-construction Wiseburn High School at 201 N. Douglas Street.
In the true spirit of collaboration, this project is becoming a reality thanks to the partnership between the City of El Segundo, Wiseburn Unified School District, non-profit organization South Bay Sports, Health & Recreation, and the many community advocates who never gave up on their dream for an aquatics facility commensurate to the rich history of water sports in El Segundo.
