Darrell George, City Manager 

El Segundo City Council appointed Darrell George as City Manager with a 5-0 vote at the June 21, 2022 City Council meeting. He officially began his new role at City Hall on July 1, 2022 and had served as the City’s interim city manager from March - June 2022. George brings more than 30 years of public service and leadership experience to the position.

George has held positions in the cities of Santa Monica, Downey, and Pomona and served for 16 years as the city manager for the City of Duarte, where he retired in December 2019.

"El Segundo continues to evolve as the preeminent high-profile business hub and a great place to raise a family in Southern California. I look forward to working with the City Council, City leadership and staff,” shares George.

During his tenure in the public sector, George spearheaded many projects, including Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade, Downey's landmark development Downey Landing, and Duarte's Gold Line Station. He laid the groundwork for the City of Hope's future campus development.

Barbara Voss, Deputy City Manager 

Barbara Voss joined El Segundo in August 2015 and serves as the Deputy City Manager. She assists the city manager in administering City operations across the organization. Voss directs all activities related to economic development and leads the communications, outreach and community engagement program for the City.  

Voss previously served as the City’s Economic Development Manager.  She has extensive experience in managing business attraction, retention and expansion initiatives for State and local government, tax advisory and real estate development consulting. Read her full bio.
