Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is committed to minimizing noise impacts in neighboring communities from aircraft operating at LAX. Since 1959, LAWA has developed and implemented noise abatement programs, sought partnership-based solutions and worked with stakeholders in a cooperative and collaborative manner. In particular, LAWA has worked proactively with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for many years to implement various noise abatement procedures.  Connect with LAWA.

The Early Turn Notification Program has a monthly report entitled “Aircraft Early Turn Monthly Report” with graphical representation of not only current, but also historical data to show changes or trends over time. 

The LAX Community Noise Roundtable was created in September 2000 and is intended to reduce and mitigate the adverse noise impacts that the users of Los Angeles International Airport create on the surrounding communities and their Environs. Membership of the Roundtable consists of local elected officials and staff, representatives of congressional offices, members of recognized community groups, the FAA, the airlines and LAWA Management. This forum provides a mechanism that attempts to ensure cooperation between the Airport and local impacted communities in achieving noise impact reduction to those communities, wherever possible, without shifting noise from one community to another. The Roundtable meets on the second Wednesday of every odd numbered month and may schedule additional meetings as needed. Learn more about getting involved.

LAX Residential Sound Insulation Program (RSI Program) Information and Check Eligibility 

As part of its responsibility to the neighboring communities, LAWA administers the RSI Program for residents impacted by aircraft noise within designated noise contours. The areas served by the LAX RSI Program consist of previously untreated units in close proximity to the airport in the City of Los Angeles and the City of El Segundo.

The goal of the RSI Program is to ensure that treated homes achieve an improved interior noise level of at least five (5) decibels (dB) in Noise Level Reduction (NLR). To achieve this goal, the RSI Program may retrofit exterior doors and windows, install a ventilation system and other miscellaneous treatments – at no cost to the homeowner. The sound insulation treatments in eligible homes may vary depending upon the existing construction and historical designation of the home.
