A preferential parking zone is a residential area in which vehicles must display a City-issued permit to park. A zone is established and enforced per El Segundo Municipal Code [ESMC] 8-5A-7.
How to Obtain a Parking Permit
If you own and/or live in a housing unit that sits within the zone you are eligible for up to three free residential parking permits and two guest permits. To obtain your permit(s):
- Email the required documents to mjcorpuz@elsegundo.org OR
- Come to the City Hall in person with your required documents Monday – Thursday from 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. City Hall is located at 350 Main St.
Required documents:
- Proof that you live in a housing unit affected by the permit parking zone. Acceptable forms of proof include water, gas or electric bills. Phone and credit card bills are not considered acceptable forms of proof.
- Valid vehicle registration card showing that the vehicle is registered to the same address as the applicant. One permit will be issued for each registered vehicle. Up to a maximum of three permits per ESMC §8-5A-7. Applicants can request up to two guest permits per unit.
Your parking permits are only valid for the designated area (Parking Permit Zone A). They are not valid for any other area of the City including City employee parking lots.
