EDCO News and Events
EDCO’s mobile app is now available to use to manage your account, view your invoice and pay your bill. EDCO holds bulky-item cleanup collection events for El Segundo residents two times a year, in the Spring and the Fall.

Is Your Building Recycling Organic Waste?
Both AB 1826 and SB 1383 require that all waste creators properly dispose of organic matter in a green bin.
If your waste hauler is not providing this service to you in the City of El Segundo, please contact Public Works Department at esassoon@elsegundo.org, so that we can get your building into compliance.
New Organics Recycling Requirements - Effective January 1, 2022

Certain businesses and multi-family complexes of five units or more may qualify for waivers from these mandatory programs. However, only those who have requested and received a waiver from the City can avoid mandated participation.
To apply for exemption, complete the SB 1383 Waiver Request Form and email to the City of El Segundo's Environmental Consultant at raebeimer@caa.inc. If additional follow-up is needed, please contact the Public Works Department at dpankau@elsegundo.org.

In accordance with the City’s Municipal Code, please remove the carts from the place of collection/street by 10:00pm.
5-2-4: COLLECTION CARTS:
F. Timing Of Placement And Removal Of Carts: Occupants shall not place carts at the curb for collection by franchisee at any time other than the days established by the franchisee for the collection of such solid waste, organics or recyclables, or earlier than five o'clock (5:00) P.M. on the day preceding the day designated by the franchisee for collection. All carts shall be removed from the place of collection prior to ten o'clock (10:00) P.M. of the day the carts have been emptied and, whenever possible, stored in a location screened from public view.

AB 1826 - El Segundo
Trash and recycling service for multi-family residences (three or more units) is the responsibility of the property owner, not the City. The type of service residents receive is the choice of the property owner, building manager, association, etc. For questions related to refuse, recycling or disposal of large items, multi-family residents should contact the property owner or waste hauler servicing the building.
Additionally, for multi-family residents who wish to recycle, the City offers two 40-yard recycling bins and an organics collection bin at the Maintenance Facility at 150 Illinois St. The bins are available 24 hours a day and located at the north end of the parking lot. Effective February 1, 2020 no owner or occupant of a commercial or multi-family premises shall employ another, other than the holder of a permit issued by the City of El Segundo, to collect solid waste, organics or recyclables generated on the premises.

Holiday Tree Recycling
For two weeks after Christmas, EDCO will collect your holiday tree if the tree is placed on the curb on your normal service day. After two weeks, the trees can be called in as a bulky item OR they can be cut and placed within the organics bin.
Residents can also drop off their holiday tree at the City Yard at 150 Illinois St. A designated bin is available 24/7 to accommodate disposal.
