The Finance Department is responsible for the preparation of the City's Operating Budget, State Controller's Report, and the Strategic Plan. 

The City has been awarded the following Budget awards: 

• Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the 2021 - 2022 budget book
• Operating Budget Meritorious Award by the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) for the 2023 - 2024 budget book

AAA Credit Rating:

• On August 8, 2023, Standard and Poor’s (S&P) Global Ratings raised the City of El Segundo’s credit issuer rating from a AA+ to AAA, the highest rating a municipality can be assigned. S&P is a leading provider of transparent and independent credit rating worldwide.
